Biography

Timothy K. McMahon Jr. is an Associate in the firm's bankruptcy, litigation and transactional departments. He represents all parties in the insolvency process — debtors, creditors, committees, trustees, and asset buyers. Tim works with business and property owners, landlords, secured and unsecured creditors, Chapter 11 debtors in possession, financial institutions, and asset-based lenders to protect their interests by prosecuting and defending claims of fraudulent transfer, preference actions, nondischargeability and bar to discharge actions, and other bankruptcy-related matters. Tim also advises clients in various litigation and transactional contexts.

Tim earned his BS from Ball State University and both an MBA and JD from Rutgers University. Prior to joining Shulman Bastian, Tim served as a law clerk to the Honorable Maureen Tighe, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California, and the Honorable William Thurman, United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Utah. Active in his profession and the community, Tim is a member of the American Bar Association, America Bankruptcy Institute, Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum, Orange County Bankruptcy Forum, LGBTQ+ Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, and Orange County Lavendar Bar Association.

In his free time, Tim enjoys hiking, watching baseball, and going to the beach.
