Biography

Eric D. Dean is of counsel to Shulman Bastian Friedman & Bui LLP in its Transactional Department. Eric is an honors graduate of UCLA School of Law and the author of many articles on real estate-related topics. Eric has 30-plus years of experience in representing clients in all aspects of real estate-related transactions, including such subjects as investment, negotiations, brokerage, entity formation, property management, ground leases, financing, leasing, franchises, construction, all forms of real estate documentation, title and title insurance, and government relations. Eric also regularly assists clients on real property-related and title disputes, arbitrations and litigation, including, for example, title policy claims, mechanics liens, title disputes, investor and management disputes, landlord-tenant concerns, construction-related claims, broker and lender-related claims and seller-purchaser disputes. Eric understands that effective, understandable, and consistent communications with clients is an essential part of the client-lawyer relationship. Eric also understands that working as a team with clients to define objectives and then developing effective strategies to timely and cost-effectively achieve those client objectives is an essential part of being a quality attorney.

Eric is the former General Counsel for a national hotel developer and operator, and the founder and former chair of the Association of Hospitality Professionals (AHP). Mr. Dean fully understands both the legal and business aspects of real estate transactions.

Eric has been a speaker and panel participant at multiple industry events, participated in several webinars, and written multiple articles published in trade periodicals. Eric has written multiple articles on topics of interest to the commercial real estate industry and been quoted in trade and business periodicals on real estate-related concerns, such as the OC Business Journal.
