Eric D. Dean is Of Counsel to the Firm in its Transactional Department. Mr. Dean has 30+ years of experience in representing clients in negotiations, transactions, governmental proceedings, title and other property related disputes, arbitration and litigation. Mr. Dean’s practice includes the representation of clients in a broad range of real estate industries including investment, hospitality, commercial real estate, brokerage and secured lending. Mr. Dean understands that effective, understandable and consistent communications with clients is an essential part of the client-lawyer relationship. Mr. Dean also understands that working as a team with clients to define objectives and then developing effective strategies to timely and cost-effectively achieve those client objectives is an essential part of being a quality attorney.
Mr. Dean is the former General Counsel for a national hotel developer and operator, and the founder and co-chair of the Association of Hospitality Professionals (AHP). Mr. Dean fully understands both the legal and business aspects of the Hospitality Industry. Mr. Dean has acted as counsel for hotel investors, owners and managers in virtually every area of the industry including such things as entity formation, broker agreements, acquisitions and sales, development, governmental relations, construction, insurance claims, operations, contracts, franchise and management agreements, financing, mechanics liens, property tax disputes, leasing, and dispute resolution.
As with his representation of clients in the Hospitality Industry, Mr. Dean has years of experience in advising and representing commercial real estate investors, developers, managers and property owners in all aspects of their real estate and business activities. Mr. Dean also regularly represents clients in the drafting of leases and in lease related disputes and commercial evictions.
Mr. Dean has broad experience in the representation of Creditors, Regulated Financial Institutions and Private Lenders in the negotiation and documentation of portfolio and loan sales and purchases, loan documentation, inter-creditor, subordination, workout, modification and forbearance agreements, REO Sales, UCC and Real Estate Foreclosures, collections, guaranty enforcement, receiverships, collateral priority, bankruptcy, unlawful detainer, insurance and defense claims. Mr. Dean also provides services to a number of real estate brokers as to general business concerns and when disputes arise.
Mr. Dean has been a speaker and panel participant at multiple industry events, participated in several webinars, and written multiple articles published in Trade Periodicals. Mr. Dean has been quoted in trade and business periodicals on real estate-related concerns, such as the OC Business Journal.
