Brandon J. Iskander is the Riverside associate of Shulman Bastian Friedman & Bui LLP, working in its bankruptcy and litigation departments. Now concentrating most of his practice on trustee and creditor representation, Mr. Iskander utilizes his broad experience in the bankruptcy field, having worked on numerous cases either as consumer debtor or creditor counsel.

Representative accomplishments by Mr. Iskander include: subordinating several multimillion dollar secured claims pursuant to 11 U.S.C. § 510, successfully challenging homestead exemption claims under both federal and state laws, prosecuting and successfully resolving numerous multimillion dollar claims for substantive consolidation, breach of fiduciary duty, fraudulent transfers, and other insider liability claims.

Mr. Iskander was elected to the board of directors for the Inland Empire Bankruptcy Forum (IEBF) in November 2019 and is serving his term from 2020 through 2023. Mr. Iskander currently serves as the IEBF's program chair and is the IEBF's incoming president beginning January 1, 2022. Mr. Iskander is also the standing moderator for the IEBF's Annual Survey of Consumer Bankruptcy Law. In June 2021, Mr. Iskander was selected by Super Lawyers as a Southern California Rising Star in the area of Debtor-Creditor Rights. In addition to his regular practice, Mr. Iskander routinely blogs on decisions including bankruptcy, tax and commercial litigation matters. He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Central District Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys Association, and the Orange County Bar Association, Commercial Law and Bankruptcy and Tax Law Sections.

Before joining the Firm, Mr. Iskander graduated with a B.A. in economics from the University of California, Irvine in 2010. In 2014, Mr. Iskander graduated from the University of California, Irvine School of Law, a member of its third-ever class. While in law school, Mr. Iskander was one of Congresswoman Katie Porter's founding legal assistants at the California Monitor Program, helping to enforce the National Mortgage Settlement of 2012. Mr. Iskander also served two years on the UC Irvine Law Review as a research editor, lead article editor, and article editor. Also while in law school, Mr. Iskander externed for the Honorable Catherine E. Bauer (Ret.) (U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California). After graduating and passing the California Bar Exam in 2014, Mr. Iskander clerked for the Honorable Robert A. Gordon (Ret.) (U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Maryland).

Mr. Iskander joined the Firm in January 2017.
